Donations are always appreciated, but never required. We want our active members to be able to attend, learn, and take advantage of the opportunity.

I have known Owen since 2001,and in that time he has become someone I trust completely — not only with my own life, but with the lives of my children. There are very few people I could say that about, and Owen is at the top of that list. He brings an extraordinary level of character, discipline, and care to everything he does. He is thoughtful, patient, compassionate, and has an exceptional eye for detail. More importantly, he genuinely cares about the people in front of him and takes the time to understand what they need. That is what makes him such an outstanding teacher. He does not take a one-size-fits-all approach — he is able to tailor his instruction to the individual, which is a rare quality and one that makes a tremendous difference in martial arts. Owen is also someone who sets goals and achieves them. I have watched him excel in everything he commits himself to, whether that meant starting his own business, becoming an excellent golfer, designing his own home, becoming an expert fisherman, earning his captain’s license, or achieving one of the highest honors in martial arts by becoming a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He does things the right way — with dedication, humility, and relentless effort. If you are considering training with Owen, or trusting him or his school with your child, I cannot recommend him highly enough. Professional instruction, respectful membership, safe. I've wanted to start BJJ for a long time but I did not want to get hurt, I have too much going on to limp around or have my arm in a sling. It was important to me I found a place where I could develop skill with an intentional design on safety and technique instead of competing with ego driven dudes who need to prove something to themselves. They nailed it at West End. I've already referred three friends.

Interested in assisting at West End Jiu Jitsu Club? Opportunities are available to currently enrolled blue belts and up who are dedicated to safety, demonstrate strong fundamentals, and promote a positive training environment. Assisting on the mats is a great way to deepen your knowledge, support your teammates, or simply give back to the academy. Members who show consistent dedication will be considered for regularly scheduled teaching positions and additional academy perks.
